Sanrio Theme Parks

In Japan there are two Sanrio themed parks; Puroland and Harmony land. The first theme park, Puroland is located outside of Tokyo. Puroland is a small indoor theme park with only one boat ride quite similar to the Disney Park ride 'It's a Small World'. In addition Puroland's star attraction is Hello Kitty's house which includes a living room, bed room, bathroom, and piano room.

Harmony Land, the second theme park, is located on the southern island of Kyushu. Compared to Puroland, Harmony Land is a lot bigger. Harmony Land is a full size outside theme park with many different rides that are all character based. Both theme parks have stage shows that last about half an hour and of course they both consist of many different variety of times sold.

Electronics

All over Asia there are various types of electronics especially in Japan, who are commonly known for their electronics. For the past few years Sanrio has been making many electronic goods such as kitchen appliances, t.vs, computers, phones, and many more. All appliances are different and cute in their own unique way.

One of the most unique electronic devices is a hello kitty toaster. Every time you toast bread in it a hello kitty face comes up on the middle of the bread. Another cool item is the Hello Kitty Electric Guitar which has Hello Kitty imprinted on the front of it.

Media

The Hello Kitty Opening Theme Song.

In 1977 Sanrio started to produce movies and tv shows containing the sanrio characters. Often the shows and movies contain lessons on life and morals. But during the 1980's the shows and movies started to cancel because of low view ratings. It wasn't until 2006, after about 20 years, that Sanrio Company decided to make movie films and TV shows again.

Sanrio also started to release video games in 1992 on all types of game consoles and online. But sadly most of the games were only released in Japan. Hello Kitty also has her own branded album called 'Hello World' with eleven pop songs inspired by Hello Kitty. Most of the songs are from young and new artists like Cheryl Yie and Keke Palmer.

Hello Kitty Ferrari 360

My friend sent me this picture the other day of a Hello Kitty Ferrari 360.

Characters.

So far there are 29 characters in the Sanrio character line. The most commonly known character is Hello Kitty. Her real name is Kitty White born at London, England on November 1st. Some of Hello Kitty’s hobbies are baking cookies, origami, playing piano, playing tennis, collecting stars, collecting ribbons and other cute things. Hello Kitty also has a identical twin sister named Mimmy White who is a minor character not commonly shown. While Hello Kitty wears a red bow on her right ear, Mimmy wears a yellow bow on her left ear.

As I said in another blog post, since there are many characters of Sanrio some of the old characters go into retirement but sometimes make random appearances. Some of the retired characters include Pochacco, Badtz Maru, Tuxedo Sam, Spottie Dottie, and Pekkle. Because this year they are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Sanrio many of the retired characters have been making appearances. The newest editions to the line of characters are the Jewlpets, which are small animals with gems as eyes.
